2023 ODI World Cup | BCCI picks Ahmedabad as the venue for the final showdown
As India gears up to host the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is expected to kick off from October 5, 2023, the BCCI has shortlisted 12 venues to host ODI World Cup matches. In a prideworthy slice of news for Amdavadis, the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium has been picked to host the ODI World Cup final.
Which cities will host ODI World Cup matches?
Apart from Ahmedabad, BCCI has shortlisted Mumbai, Rajkot, Indore, Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru as venues for 2023 ODI World Cup matches. The World Cup will have 48 matches, including a couple of semi-finals and the final, played over a period of 46 days between October 5 and November 19 later this year.
It is noteworthy that the BCCI is yet to announce venues for any games other than the final. Various reasons are being put forth as the cause of delay in announcing the full schedule, which include proposed tax exemptions from the Indian government, visa clearance issues for the Pakistan team and effects of monsoon season on different stadiums across the country.
