Ahmedabad trials AI-powered dashcams to monitor and penalize traffic violations

For the first time in Gujarat, Ahmedabad is using AI-powered mobile dashcams in police PCR vans to monitor and penalise traffic violators. The vans at SG 1 and SG 2 police stations on SG Highway are equipped with cameras linked to AI Connect software that detects violations in real-time and issues instant e-challans.

Currently in its trial phase, the initiative aims to expand citywide, with around 60 vehicles set to be equipped with this technology.

GSRTC adds 8,340 extra bus trips for Diwali season

In preparation for the Diwali rush, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has announced an additional 8,340 bus trips, expecting to cater to approximately 3.75 lakh passengers.

With Diwali approaching, bookings have surged by 18% for October compared to the previous month. The extra buses and trips will facilitate timely travel across Gujarat and to neighbouring states during the festive period.

Ahmedabad-Keshod flight service to start from Oct 29

Air connectivity from Keshod Airport in Junagadh is set to resume with the new Ahmedabad-Keshod-Diu flight launching on the 29th of October. Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the flight departs Ahmedabad at 10:55 AM, arriving in Keshod at 11:20 AM, and then continues to Diu. The return flight from Diu departs at 3:55 PM, reaching Ahmedabad at 4:20 PM.

A 75-seater aircraft will serve this route, offering a convenient option for tourists visiting Junagadh and Somnath.

City police commissioner enforces helmet rule for police personnel

Ahmedabad's Police Commissioner, GS Malik, has mandated that police personnel follow the traffic rule of wearing helmets before enforcing it on the public. In his directive, Malik instructed officers in charge of police stations to ensure their teams comply.

Entry into police premises will be denied to personnel arriving on two-wheelers without helmets. Additionally, DCPs have been tasked with appointing officers to monitor compliance among their colleagues.

Ahmedabad temperature update

Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 36.1°C on Friday, slightly above average, while the minimum was notably higher at 25.4°C, exceeding the norm by 4.5 degrees. Saturday's forecast predicts a high of 37°C and a low of 26°C, with partly cloudy skies.
