The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced plans to establish a ‘Knowledge Hub’ or Smart Library in Ahmedabad’s Jodhpur area, aimed at fostering a reading culture among the city’s youth.
To be located near the Starbucks Junction on 100 Feet Anand Nagar Road, this cutting-edge library will feature dedicated reading areas for men and women, lecture rooms, and special facilities for students preparing for competitive exams. With a budget of ₹10 crore, the library will span approximately 1,634 square meters. Construction is slated to begin in January 2025, with completion targeted for 2026.
Ahmedabad’s winter is taking its time to arrive, as the city continues to experience unusually high temperatures. On Monday, the minimum temperature reached 20.4°C, 2.3 degrees above the seasonal average, keeping the city in a summer-like heat spell.
However, a slight relief is anticipated, as a gradual dip in minimum temperatures has been recorded over the past few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is expected to drop to around 20°C on Tuesday, signaling a slow approach toward cooler weather.
To ease commuting for professionals and business travellers, a non-stop bus service from Palanpur’s new bus terminal to Ahmedabad’s Geeta Mandir has been launched. The bus will travel directly between Palanpur and Ahmedabad without intermediate stops, ensuring timely and convenient travel for workers and entrepreneurs.
The service will operate twice daily, with departures from Palanpur’s New Busport at 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
After a four-year hiatus, Ahmedabad’s seaplane service is set for a comeback. A new seaplane has arrived from abroad, signaling a fresh start for the service. To enhance tourist connectivity, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has updated policies and prepared for the re-launch, marking the first phase of operations.
Ahmedabad is among the 16 planned routes for the seaplane service, which includes connectivity to popular destinations such as the Lakshadweep Islands. SpiceJet Airlines has been assigned to conduct surveys and initiate operations, bringing seaplane connectivity back to Gujarat as early as next year.
