City's real estate market booms, 49% increase in average property prices

A recent report by CREDAI Ahmedabad and ANAROCK Group highlights significant growth in Ahmedabad's real estate market over the past decade. The report, presented at the Ahmedabad Residential Real Estate Summit, notes a 49% increase in average property prices from 2018 to the first half of 2024.

The average price per square foot has risen to Rs 5,925, reflecting a 16% increase in the past year alone. This growth is attributed to the city's expanding industrial and infrastructural development.

Special train for Janmashtami: Ahmedabad to Okha

Western Railway is launching a special train service (train numbers 09453/54) between Ahmedabad and Okha to accommodate the increased travel demand during the Janmashtami festival.

Bookings for this service will open on July 31, 2024, at PRS counters and the IRCTC website. The train will depart Ahmedabad at 7:45 AM on August 25 and arrive in Okha at 5 PM, on the same day. For the return trip, the train will depart Okha at 5:30 AM on August 26 and reach Ahmedabad at 3 PM.

AMC plans to revitalise BRTS stations

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a significant renovation project for the city's Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) stations. Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd. has issued a call for tenders, inviting contractors to participate in the refurbishment of stations along both the west and east corridors. This project aims to upgrade infrastructure and improve services for commuters.

Heavy rains cause waterlogging and traffic jams

Ahmedabad experienced heavy rainfall on Monday, with various parts of the city receiving significant precipitation. Maninagar recorded the highest rainfall at 51.5mm, while Jodhpur and Bodakdev reported 48mm and 43mm, respectively.

The downpour led to waterlogging in several areas, particularly in the western parts of the city. The rainfall mainly occurred before 2 PM, according to data from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

GU starts offline admissions; Adds 1,000 seats for BS with BBA and BCA

Following the completion of the online admission phase, Gujarat University has now started its offline admission process. Over 57,000 undergraduate and postgraduate seats have already been filled.

Recently, 1,000 additional seats were allocated to eight colleges, focusing on BS, BBA, and BCA courses, all of which are now fully subscribed. Students who passed the supplementary exams can now apply for the remaining seats.
