AMC introduces special vans to collect and recycle religious waste

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched "Dharmik Pujapa Nirmalya Collection Vans" to collect religious waste, including flowers, decorations, coconut shells, and old religious images. The initiative, led by AMC's Solid Waste Department, is designed to ensure the respectful disposal and recycling of such waste, promoting city cleanliness.

Additionally, the AMC has installed dedicated dustbins near temples for the collection of prasad boxes, facilitating proper disposal and recycling where applicable.

Traffic jams at Law Garden amidst Navratri shopping rush

As Navratri approaches, Law Garden Market, a popular shopping hub, is experiencing frequent traffic jams due to illegal parking and an influx of shoppers. Many visitors are calling for the area to be declared a “no vehicle zone” for the next 10-20 days to ease congestion and improve the shopping experience.

Heavy rains expected in South Gujarat, light showers for Ahmedabad

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains for parts of south Gujarat starting Wednesday. Several other districts, including Ahmedabad, are likely to experience light to moderate showers.

Ahmedabad is expected to have cloudy skies with light rain from Wednesday to Friday, with a chance of rain or thunderstorms over the weekend.

₹263 Cr sanctioned for Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur High-Speed Corridor

Gujarat Chief Minister has greenlit ₹262.56 crore for the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road project, as part of the state’s high-speed corridor initiative. The state government had earmarked ₹3,100 crore in this year’s budget to enhance heavily trafficked highways. a

The aim is to improve road infrastructure and ensure safer travel. Six key corridors, including Wataman-Pipli, Surat-Sachin-Navsari, Ahmedabad-Dakor, Bhuj-Bhachau, Rajkot-Bhavnagar, and Mehsana-Palanpur, are currently under development.

New fire safety rules introduced for gaming zones in malls and plots

Following the Rajkot TRP fire incident, new safety regulations have been introduced for gaming zones in malls and plots. Gaming zones will only be permitted on plots with a minimum area of 2 thousand square meters. For malls, separate fire No-Objection Certificates (NOCs), dedicated emergency exits on all sides, and distinct entry and exit doors are now mandatory.
