AMC to allow AMTS buses and stands as filming locations

Following requests from filmmakers, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to allow filming on AMTS buses and at bus stands. This new policy proposal will be considered for approval at the general body meeting on July 22. Previously popular filming locations included the Sabarmati Riverfront, Kankaria Lake, and Ellis Bridge.

New flyovers to be constructed on SG Highway at Nirma Uni, YMCA

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved the construction of a new flyover connecting the Gota Crossroads flyover to Nirma University, bypassing the busy Jagatpur and Chharodi junctions.

Additionally, a flyover linking the Iskcon flyover to YMCA Club via Karnavati Club Road has also been approved. Construction for both projects is expected to begin after the monsoon season.

Akshar River Cruise suspended due to low water levels

The Akshar River Cruise, a floating restaurant on the Sabarmati River, has temporarily halted operations due to low water levels. The restaurant has been closed for the past two days and will resume service once the water level stabilizes. The cruise ship is currently docked at its office on the Sabarmati Riverfront.

Hoarding survey ordered to prevent monsoon hazards

The Municipal Commissioner has directed a survey of all public information hoardings across the city to be completed within 2 days. This action follows a Gujarat High Court order on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding hoardings.

The survey aims to identify and remove unauthorized, unsafe, or dangerous hoardings within 7 days to prevent potential hazards during the monsoon. The findings are to be reported to the Gujarat High Court within 10 days.

Rainfall expected in Ahmedabad due to active weather systems

Three weather systems—Cyclonic Circulation, Monsoon Trough, and Off-Shore Trough—have become active near Gujarat, likely bringing moderate to heavy rain and 30-40 km/h winds to Ahmedabad in the next 24 to 48 hours.

On Wednesday, Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C and a minimum of 26.6°C. Over the next three days, temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees, providing relief from the heat.
