Asarwa, Chandlodia, and Ahmedabad Junction to be developed as 'Amrit stations'

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 87 railway stations in Gujarat, including Asarwa, Chandlodia, and Ahmedabad Junction, will be developed as 'Amrit stations'.

This initiative is part of the ministry's efforts to enhance railway infrastructure in the state. The budget allocation for railway projects in Gujarat has been increased to Rs 8,743 crore, a 15% rise from the average annual outlay of Rs 589 crore between 2009 and 2014.

Torrential rains hit Ahmedabad, Akhbar Nagar Underpass closed

Ahmedabad has finally received heavy rainfall after a long dry spell, bringing much-needed relief but also causing disruptions in various parts of the city. Areas such as Judges Bungalow Road, Bodakdev, SG Highway, Gota, Vastrapur, Memnagar, Danapith, Astodia, and Laldarwaja experienced significant downpours.

The Akhbar Nagar Underpass has been closed due to waterlogging, leading to traffic congestion and frustration among motorists. Residents expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, criticizing the local corporation for inadequate infrastructure maintenance.

City-based Prasunna Parekh wins 3 medals at World TT Masters in Rome

Ahmedabad's Prasunna Parekh secured three medals at the ITTF World Masters Table Tennis Championships 2024 held in Rome. The 48-year-old athlete, alongside her doubles partner Meenu Basak, triumphed in the 45+ women's doubles category, defeating the Ukrainian duo Nataliia Ostrovska and Halyna Telna with a score of 3-1 (5-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-3) in the final match.

Municipal Corporation takes steps to combat mosquito-borne diseases

In a bid to prevent mosquito-borne diseases, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation conducted inspections in 2.32 lakh houses across different city zones. They found mosquito breeding in 3,481 water containers. These containers were immediately emptied, dried, and treated with insecticide.

Additionally, the corporation cleaned 4,854 such vessels to curb the spread of diseases.
