Major disruptions at city civil hospitals amid doctors' strike

Ahmedabad’s Asarwa Civil Hospital and Sola Civil Hospital are facing significant disruptions in operations due to an ongoing strike by resident doctors. The strike has led to a noticeable decline in the number of outpatients, inpatients, and surgeries conducted at these hospitals.

Ahmedabad records state's 2nd highest temp at 36.3°C

Ahmedabad experienced a significant rise in temperature on Tuesday, reaching 36.3°C. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Disa, which hit 36.4°C. The increase in temperature is attributed to north-westerly winds, with Ahmedabad’s temperature being 3.7°C above the normal average.

Siren testing scheduled as part of civil defense upgrade

The Civil Defense system in Ahmedabad is set to undergo a critical upgrade with the planned acquisition of new sirens. As part of this process, the city has conducted a test of these sirens today. The testing is scheduled for 21st August 2024, between 08:00 AM and 10:00 AM at Bahumali Bhawan, Lal Darwaza.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police and Commandant of the Civil Defense Office, Ahmedabad, has issued a public notice urging residents to be aware of the periodic sounding of sirens during this time.

Trains diverted due to yard remodeling at Kuberpur Station

Several trains passing through the Ahmedabad division will be diverted due to yard remodeling work at Kuberpur station on the Tundla-Agra Fort section. The affected trains are:

  • Train No. 09405 Sabarmati-Patna Special (20 and 27 August 2024)

  • Train No. 09447 Ahmedabad-Patna Special (21 and 28 August 2024)

  • Train No. 12948 Patna-Ahmedabad Express (28 August 2024)

  • Train No. 09569 Rajkot-Barauni Special (23 August 2024)

During this period, these trains will not stop at Agra Fort and Tundla stations.
