Cloudy skies persist, rain expected soon

Cloudy weather has dominated Ahmedabad for the past two days due to active upper air circulation over the northeastern Saurashtra-Arabian Sea region. Despite this, rain-entraining clouds have not formed, resulting in no rainfall yet. Meteorologists predict rain in the next 24 to 48 hours, with about an inch expected between Saturday and Monday.

On Thursday, Ahmedabad's maximum temperature decreased by 1.1° to 35.7°C, while the minimum temperature rose by 1.8°C to 29°C.

Ahmedabad University introduces an innovative dual-degree programme

Ahmedabad University is launching a unique dual-degree program, BxMx, this academic year. This initiative aims to enhance student employability by allowing undergraduates to pursue a bachelor's degree in one discipline while simultaneously working towards a master's degree in another.

This program is designed to help students build diverse capabilities and skills, providing them with a competitive edge in the job market.

Increased food safety checks in the city

Food safety in Ahmedabad has come under scrutiny as reports of contaminated food in hotels, restaurants, and food courts rise. During a standing committee meeting, food department officials were directed to conduct intensive inspections of food trucks and street vendors throughout the city.

Standing Committee Chairman stated that teams from AMC's food department are conducting checks both day and night to eliminate unhealthy food practices and enforce strict action against violators.

Civic body seals 145 buildings in ongoing compliance drive

Since the tragic fire incident in Rajkot, a total of 520 buildings have been sealed across the city to ensure safety compliance. For the third consecutive day, the city's civic body continued its rigorous inspection of BU permissions and fire NOC compliance, sealing 145 buildings on Thursday.

This sweep included 20 schools and preschools, nine food courts, and 114 industrial units.
