Gujarat’s largest waste-to-energy plant inaugurated in Ahmedabad

India's Union Home Minister inaugurated Gujarat's largest waste-to-energy plant in Ahmedabad, a major step towards enhancing the city's waste management capabilities and environmental sustainability. Situated in Piplaj, this state-of-the-art facility, developed at a cost of ₹375 crore under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, will process 1,000 metric tons of waste daily and generate 15 megawatts of electricity per hour.

Utilising advanced RDF-based Martin Reverse Grate Firing Technology, the plant is designed to improve waste disposal while contributing to energy production and environmental conservation efforts.

Direct flights launched between Ahmedabad and Keshod to boost spiritual tourism

In an effort to enhance spiritual tourism, Alliance Air has launched direct flights between Ahmedabad and Keshod, catering primarily to pilgrims visiting the renowned Somnath Temple.

The new service will commence on the 21st of November 2024, with flights scheduled to operate three times a week. This development is expected to provide a significant boost to the local tourism industry by offering more convenient travel options for devotees.

Chilly November across Gujarat, Ahmedabad weather update

Gujarat is seeing a steady drop in temperatures as November begins, with further declines expected. According to IMD predictions, Ahmedabad is forecasted to have clear skies with temperatures ranging from 23.0°C to 38.0°C on November 4th and 5th.

The minimum temperature is expected to drop to 22.0°C on November 6th and further to 21.0°C on November 7th, with maximum temperatures slightly decreasing to 37.0°C, maintaining clear skies throughout.

Indian Railways adds more special trains for festive season

Responding to the festive season rush, Indian Railways has announced a substantial increase in the number of special trains, from 4,500 last year to 7,296 this year. The surge in demand has led to the deployment of additional trains, with over 150 special services running on Thursday and 158 on Friday.

To manage the increased passenger load, special arrangements have been made, including the deployment of extra staff and the Railway Protection Force to ensure smooth operations and manage crowd control effectively.

Bullet train project reaches key milestone with bridge completions

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of 12 out of 20 planned river bridges in Gujarat. The latest bridge, spanning 120 metres over the Kharera River in Navsari district, marks another step forward for the ambitious 508-km corridor.

Officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) confirmed the progress, highlighting the rapid advancement of this high-profile infrastructure project.
