Restoration of Ellis Bridge with a budget of ₹32.4 Cr

The Chief Minister has approved ₹32.4 crore for the restoration of Ahmedabad’s historic Ellis Bridge under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme. Built in 1892, Ellis Bridge was the first bridge over the Sabarmati River, connecting east and west Ahmedabad.

The steel structure of the bridge has been completely closed for the past 10 years due to weathering effects that have rendered it dilapidated and dangerous. Once restored, it will reopen as a footbridge.

Weather Update: Moderate rain and thundershowers expected today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts moderate rain and thundershowers for Tuesday. Monday saw cloudy skies with some areas experiencing light drizzles. The city's maximum temperature reached 35.6°C, 0.9 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 28.4°C, 1.9 degrees above normal.

Road closure from SP Ring Road to Club O Seven for 45 days for repairs

Due to heavy rains, a large pothole has formed near Sky Building on Club O7 Road in the Shela area. To facilitate repairs by AUDA, the road from Sardar Patel Ring Road to Orchid Sky Club O7 will be closed to public traffic for 45 days starting today. Alternate routes via VIP Road will be available for access to Club O Seven. The repair work will include sewer main line and gravity line maintenance.

Lilavati Hospital inaugurates first clinic in Ahmedabad

Mumbai-based Lilavati Hospital has launched its first healthcare facility in Ahmedabad as part of its expansion plans. The new clinic, inaugurated on Monday, features an Outpatient Department operational from 9 AM to 9 PM. It offers advanced diagnostic services including ECG, ECHO, Stress Test (TMT), and Advanced X-ray Ultrasound (USG).

State HC dissatisfied with AMC's inaction on non-functioning STPs

On Monday, the Gujarat High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) over non-functioning Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) polluting the Sabarmati River. Despite previous directives for swift action, no progress has been made. The HC has now instructed the civic body chief to personally oversee the issue.
