1. IIMA tops management institute rankings for 5th year

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has once again been ranked as the top management institute in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2024, released by the Ministry of Education.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that IIMA has secured the top spot, maintaining its leading position since the rankings began in 2016, with top placements in 2017, 2018, and from 2020 onwards.

2. Amit Shah to flag off ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Ahmedabad today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from the Viratnagar office of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (HGT) campaign, part of the Independence Day celebrations from August 9 to 15, aims to inspire patriotism and national pride by encouraging citizens to hoist the national flag.

3. Vande Bharat Metro Train arrives in Ahmedabad for launch

A 12-coach rake of the first Vande Bharat Metro train has arrived in Ahmedabad, set to be officially launched from Gandhinagar. The train, which can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h, is expected to replace the local train service on the Gandhinagar-Bhuj route.

There is also a proposal to operate it between Surat and Gandhinagar, although the Jamnagar-Ahmedabad-Surat intercity train is already running on this route.

4. Jazeera Airways to resume weekly Kuwait-A'bad flights

Jazeera Airways has announced the resumption of its weekly flights between Kuwait City and Ahmedabad starting November 2, 2024, coinciding with the Northern Winter 2024/25 season.

The Airbus 320 flight, which was last operational in May 2023, will depart Kuwait as Flight J9 407 at 00:10, arriving in Ahmedabad at 6:00 am, with a flight duration of approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.

5. Tim Hortons opens at SVPI Airport

Tim Hortons, the global coffee giant, has opened its 32nd store in India, making its debut in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The new outlet is located on the ground floor, outside the domestic arrivals area at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
