Light shower and thunderstorm to hit Ahmedabad on Sunday

The monsoon has finally reached Gujarat, bringing relief from the extreme summer heat. On Sunday, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in South Gujarat and Ahmedabad.

On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 41.7°C and a minimum of 29°C, with the upcoming rain offering a welcome change from the hot and humid weather.

Fire safety training for city schools initiated

In response to the recent Rajkot fire incident, fire safety training sessions have been organized for schools. The Ahmedabad District Education Officer and Fire Brigade conducted a training session at St. Xavier's Loyola School, with 700 school principals or representatives in attendance. The training covered how to use fire safety equipment and control fires before the fire brigade's arrival.

AMC launches RRR vans in seven zones

AMC's Waste Department has rolled out door-to-door RRR mobile vans across seven zones under the "My City, My Pride" campaign. These vans, themed around Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, will collect items such as unused clothes, old toys, books, and furniture directly from households.

The collected items will be distributed to the needy through NGOs, while the rest will be recycled. This initiative, a first for the city, has already collected 5,861 items collected, including 4,005 pieces of clothing on the first day.

Enhanced metro connectivity with new feeder routes

The Chief Minister flagged off AMTS e-buses for new Metro connectivity feeder routes and the Riverfront route. This service aims to facilitate easy travel from metro stations to local neighborhoods.

Feeder buses will operate from Thaltej and Vastral Metro stations, covering areas like SG Highway, Bopal, Shilaj, Ghuma, Prahlad Nagar, Ghatlodia, Odhav, Adinath Nagar, and Singarwa Gaam.

AMC digitalises birth certificate 

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has expanded its online services to include the availability of birth certificates. Citizens can now download birth certificates for individuals born between 1959 and 2019 through the DigiLocker app. To access this service, users simply need to log in to the app.

Sabarmati-Jodhpur Express cancelled for three days

The Sabarmati-Jodhpur-Sabarmati Express train has been cancelled for 3 days due to RCC box launching at Bridge No. 742 km 557/8-9 between Pindwara and Banas stations. Train No. 14821 from Jodhpur on June 6 and 7, 2024, and Train No. 14822 from Sabarmati on June 7 and 8, 2024, will not operate.
