Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro route to launch in July

The metro route connecting Motera in Ahmedabad to Sector 1 in Gandhinagar is set to commence operations in July. On Wednesday, Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety conducted a safety trial of the route. This development marks the nearing completion of Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, with commercial operations expected to begin next month after the necessary safety inspections.

The 20 km route will significantly enhance connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

New six-lane bridge to ease traffic at Shilaj Junction

In response to traffic congestion, AUDA has planned the construction of an 834-meter long six-lane bridge at Shilaj Junction, costing ₹120 crores. The bridge aims to alleviate traffic for over 1 lakh motorists traveling through SP Ring Road. Construction is expected to start soon and will be completed within two years.

The bridge will be 27 meters wide, with approach lengths of 131 meters towards Bhopal and 239 meters towards Science City.

SVPI Airport to introduce 3 new e-gates

SVPI Airport is set to install 3 new e-gates at the entrance of Domestic Terminal 1, increasing the total number of e-gates to 4. These e-gates, part of the DigiYatra system, will significantly speed up the check-in process, reducing the average time from one and a half hours to just 15 minutes. This enhancement will greatly improve efficiency and convenience for travellers.

Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat Train to speed up

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat train is poised to increase its speed to 160 km/h, reducing travel time between the two cities from 5.25 hours to 4.45 hours. This upgrade is contingent on successful safety inspections, according to top sources in Western Railway (WR).

Currently, Vande Bharat trains on this busy route run at 130 km/h. This initiative is part of Mission Raftar, which aims to enhance the speed and efficiency of the Mumbai-Vadodara-Delhi corridor.

New water treatment plants for Ahmedabad's growing population

To address the needs of Ahmedabad's expanding population and newly merged municipal areas such as Bopal, Ghuma, Shela, Chandkheda, Motera, and Tragad, two new water treatment plants will be constructed.

A 400 MLD plant will be established at Kotarpur, and a 200 MLD plant at Jaspur Water Works. These new facilities will add 60 crore liters of water, benefiting approximately 32 lakh residents in both West and East Ahmedabad.
