New direct flight from Ahmedabad to Bangkok announced
Responding to the growing demand for travel to Bangkok, Ahmedabad will soon have a fifth direct flight to the Thai capital. Thai Lion Air is launching a new low-cost airline service, which will directly compete with existing direct flights operated by IndiGo and SpiceJet.
This new addition will offer travelers more affordable options. It is expected to start by the end of July, with four flights a week.
Moderate to heavy rains forecast for Gujarat
The Meteorological Department has forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall across Gujarat for the next seven days, with Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar expected to receive substantial showers.
Despite the impending rains, Ahmedabad district currently faces a 21% rainfall deficit, making it one of 14 districts with a deficit exceeding 20% compared to the long-term average. Overall, Gujarat’s rainfall deficit has decreased to 5%, indicating near-normal rainfall so far.
High rises set to transform Sabarmati Riverfront
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has greenlighted the leasing of land along the Sabarmati Riverfront for the development of commercial highrises. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd has earmarked plots on both the east and west banks of the river for this initiative. According to the policy, seven value zones have been designated along the riverfront to facilitate this development.
