Extended post office hours for Rakhi deliveries

As Raksha Bandhan approaches, postal services across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, are extending their hours to manage the surge in Rakhi deliveries. Post offices will remain open until 8 PM till the 17th of August.

The National Sorting Hub in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, has also introduced a 24-hour booking service to accommodate late senders. Despite August 18 being a Sunday, postal workers will be on duty to ensure timely deliveries.

SVPI Airport announces advisory for Independence Day

In anticipation of Independence Day on the 15th of August, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad has issued an advisory urging passengers to arrive early.

Due to enhanced security measures, which will remain in effect until the 20th of August, travellers are advised to arrive at the airport well in advance to avoid delays.

Traffic diversions on Sardar Patel Ring Road due to overbridge repairs

Western Railways will undertake load-strengthening work on the Ropda Overbridge, located between Vatva Aslali Circle and Hatijan Circle on Sardar Patel Ring Road. This will result in the closure of a 600-meter stretch of the road from north to south between the 15th of August and the 18th of August.

While one side of the road will be closed, traffic will continue on the other side with diversions in place.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) initiative to relocate makeshift roadside vegetable markets to designated areas has encountered significant resistance from local residents.

This opposition has led to unforeseen challenges and additional costs, potentially straining the AMC's budget.

Light showers provide relief after a humid spell

Ahmedabad experienced light showers on Tuesday afternoon after nearly a week of temperatures exceeding 33°C. The city recorded a temperature of 33.6°C, which is 1.9°C above normal.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the intensity of rainfall is expected to decrease over the next few days, with light to moderate showers anticipated on Wednesday.
