Riverfront to get new Yoga Centre with unique earth-shaped design

A new yoga centre shaped like a half-sphere, representing earth, will be built on the western bank of the Sabarmati Riverfront, within the Biodiversity Park. This new project, costing ₹25 crore, will accommodate up to 200 people practicing yoga at once.

The centre's outdoor area will feature landscaped spaces for yoga, along with fountains for added ambience. The yoga centre’s roof will be transparent, allowing early morning sunlight to benefit practitioners.

Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway nears completion, expected to open by early 2025

Construction on the 109-kilometer Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is progressing rapidly, with around 80% of the work complete. The expressway, expected to open in early 2025, will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and the Dholera Smart City to just 40–45 minutes.

Built at a cost of ₹4,373 crore, it will connect Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Ring Road with India’s first Greenfield Smart City in Dholera.

GTU launches 1st online MBA in International Business 

Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has announced its first online MBA program in International Business, following University Grants Commission (UGC) approval.

Applications are open until the 14th of November. The two-year, four-semester program will enroll 60 students with a semester fee of ₹20,000. GTU is also planning to expand its online course offerings in the near future.

AMC provides Ayushman cards for senior citizens for free healthcare benefits

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started assisting senior citizens aged 70 and above at 85 Urban Health Centres to obtain Ayushman cards under the Central Government’s Vay Vandana scheme.

This initiative offers up to ₹5 lakh per year in medical coverage at selected private and government hospitals. Eligible citizens can visit AMC’s health centres with their Aadhaar card to receive the Ayushman card and benefit from the Vay Vandana scheme’s healthcare provisions.

Chhath Puja celebrations at Sabarmati Riverfront draw large crowds

The Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad saw vibrant celebrations for Chhath Puja near Indira Bridge, with North Indian communities gathering in large numbers for the ritual. Celebrations continued overnight, with devotees performing sunrise prayers.

Indigo Airlines to add new routes from Ahmedabad Airport starting December

From the 10th of December, Indigo Airlines will introduce new flights from Ahmedabad to Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, and Kochi as part of its winter schedule, followed by a Guwahati route on the 11th of December.
