Study reveals alarming noise pollution levels at major crossroads
A recent study titled 'Temporal Assessment of Noise Pollution in Major Intersection of Ahmedabad City of Gujarat' has shed light on concerning noise pollution levels at seven major crossroads. The study found that noise levels surpassed permissible limits.
On average, individuals at these crossroads experience noise levels ranging from 70 to 80 decibels, exceeding the permissible range of 55 to 65 dB. The crowded and traffic-congested nature of these intersections, coupled with high vehicle speeds and densities, were identified as contributing factors. The findings highlight the need for proactive measures to address noise pollution and improve the quality of urban life.
Artistic replicas at Kankaria Carnival and upcoming Flower Show
As the Kankaria Carnival unfolds, one of its main attractions is a laser show featuring a replica of Lord Rama and the iconic Ram Mandir built in Ayodhya. The ongoing carnival draws a large crowd, offering cultural programs such as songs and music until December 31.
Simultaneously, preparations for the upcoming flower show along the riverfront, starting on December 30, are in full swing. The flower show promises new and innovative sculptures, including a 2.3-meter-tall and 7.5-meter-wide replica of the new Parliament Building, costing approximately 24 lakhs. Additionally, a 5 to 6-meter-high entry gate, themed after Vadnagar, will be featured in the flower show at an estimated cost of 43 lakhs. These artistic additions contribute to the vibrant and diverse offerings of the Kankaria Carnival.
SVPI Airport prepares for 2024 expansion with enhanced infrastructure

The airport is equipped with additional security measures, including an extra X-ray machine, six pickup drop lanes, and 24 immigration counters. The expanded infrastructure aims to accommodate the growing number of travelers while enhancing the overall airport experience.
NGO transforms plastic waste from World Cup Final into benches and jackets
Following the World Cup Final held at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, a substantial amount of plastic waste was generated as spectators flocked to the venue. In response to the challenge of managing this waste, an innovative solution emerged through the efforts of an NGO. The NGO successfully recycled the otherwise non-disposable plastic waste, transforming it into 10 benches and reflective jackets.
These repurposed items have been handed over to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The benches are slated for installation in public parks and gardens, contributing to sustainable urban infrastructure, while the reflective jackets will be distributed among the cleaning staff of the municipal corporation.
