From the closure of Gandhi Ashram Road for the Gandhi Ashram redevelopment project, to a mock drill conducted at Riverfront to ensure safety measures, to twelve trains to and from Ahmedabad temporarily canceled, and more. Find out what's happening in the city with this Ahmedabad News Roundup.
In line with the Gandhi Ashram redevelopment project, the Gandhi Ashram Road will be permanently closed for vehicles starting March 12. For the trial period, the road from Wadaj to Subhash Bridge has been closed for three days starting Wednesday to assess the challenges faced in vehicular commute.
Motorists encountered a 2 km detour from Wadaj to Subhash Bridge via D-Mart on the first day, leading to temporary traffic congestion. Despite this, an alternate route from Subhash Bridge to Wadaj remained open.
In response to the growing popularity of water activities and floating restaurants at Sabarmati Riverfront, the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Rescue Service, in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Collector’s office, conducted a mock drill.
The drill, held on a Tuesday morning, simulated a scenario where a boat with ten persons capsized, ensuring preparedness for emergencies in the future.
The ongoing work at Ghuma railway station in the Ahmedabad-Viramgam section of Western Railway will temporarily disrupt train services along this route, leading to the cancellation of several trains. Notably, on March 29, the following trains have been canceled: Bandra-Jamnagar, Bhavnagar-Bandra, and Gandhidham-Bandra.
