1. Jalaram Underpass inaugurated, operational in 10-15 days

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Dhirubhai Swarupchand  Shah Underpass near Jalaram Mandir in Paldi. Despite the launch, the underpass will be accessible to the public in 10 to 15 days as finishing touches, including asphalt laying and junction construction, are pending.

The underpass, costing 83 crores, is expected to benefit 1 lakh daily commuters from Law Garden to Paldi.

2. Traffic de-congestion initiative launched on 7 key city roads

The increasing number of roadside food stalls in the city has resulted in significant traffic problems. To address this issue, the Municipal Corporation has identified and decided to de-congest seven main roads across the city.

These zones roads will undergo the removal of roadside food stalls and other obstructions causing traffic congestion. A daily truck will operate to alleviate traffic congestion, and illegal obstructions will be promptly dealt with.

3. Kankaria East Metro Station opens for public

The Kankaria East underground metro station, part of the east-west corridor connecting Thaltej and Vastral, has opened for public use from Monday. Situated between Kalpur railway station-based Metro station and Apparel Park Metro station, this latest addition enhances connectivity in the city.

Meanwhile, the Sabarmati station, linking the bullet train and Ramnagar railway station for trains to North India, is nearing completion and will be inaugurated next.

4. Ahmedabad chosen as the host city for World Pickleball Championships

The Gujarat State Pickleball Association (GSPA) has announced that Ahmedabad will host the prestigious World Pickleball Championships (WPC) Series from October 23 to 27. This event is anticipated to attract participants and spectators from across the globe, showcasing the city's prominence in hosting international sports competitions.

5. Summer flight schedule announced, 8 new routes from Ahmedabad

The summer flight schedule from April 1 to October 26 has been announced, with various airlines introducing eight new flights from Ahmedabad. Notably, the current Indigo Jaisalmer flight will cease from March 15, and IndiGo plans to commence flights to Rajkot, Aurangabad, and Srinagar.

Vistara will operate daily flights to Bengaluru starting March 15, while Spice Jet extends its flights to Goa from April 1. With these additions, the daily domestic flights from Ahmedabad airport are expected to surpass 230 in the near future.

6. In a first, visually impaired man achieves PhD at IIM-A

In a groundbreaking achievement, Tarun Kumar Vashistha, a visually impaired individual, has successfully completed his PhD from IIM Ahmedabad. This noteworthy accomplishment marks him as the first person with a disability to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from a leading business school.

Hailing from Uttarakhand, Tarun is set to commence his role as an assistant professor at IIM Bodh Gaya later this month.
