Kankaria East metro station set to open in February

The Kankaria East underground station, linking Thaltej and Vastrapur on the east-west corridor, is now completed and is scheduled to commence operations in February of the upcoming year. The final approval for its opening depends on the report submitted by the commissioner of Metro Rail Safety following the already conducted inspection.

Additionally, progress is being made on the Sabarmati station, which will serve as a connection point for bullet trains and the Ramnagar railway station.

First-ever direct flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya

In anticipation of the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, IndiGo is launching the first-ever direct flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya starting from January 11th.

Departing at 9:10 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from SVPI Airport, the flights will reach Ayodhya at 11:30 AM. The one-way flight fare is set at approximately Rs 3,999. Return flights will operate from Ayodhya.

Centenary celebrations for Maharashtra Samaj Ahmedabad

The Marathi community in the city is gearing up for a three-day celebration in honor of the centenary year of Maharashtra Samaj Ahmedabad, beginning on December 16th. The festivities will include a mix of food, cultural events, social gatherings, and musical performances.

A matrimonial meet is also part of the planned activities. Established in 1924 by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the organization aimed to unite the Marathi population in the city.

Road repairs and sculpture installations before vibrant summit

In anticipation of the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit on January 9th and 10th, preparations have commenced in Ahmedabad. A weekly review meeting emphasized the arrangements for the summit, focusing on about 70 identified roads, including SG Highway, Vaishnodevi Circle to Ring Road, Ashram Road, Dafnala to Airport to Indira Bridge, and Narol to Naroda, which are expected to be frequented by foreign guests.

In addition, the installation of five new sculptures is underway.

Mandatory live location sharing for Traffic Police and TRB Jawans

To address issues of tardiness and absenteeism among traffic police and TRB jawans contributing to road accidents and traffic disruptions, the City Police has implemented a new measure. All traffic officials are now required to share their live location at the beginning and end of their shifts.

Furthermore, they must send pictures from their posts via WhatsApp to ensure accountability and adherence to duty.

England Lions to play in Ahmedabad

England Lions have disclosed a 15-man squad for their red-ball tour of India, coinciding with the men's five-match Test series in early 2024.

Hosted exclusively in Ahmedabad, the Lions will engage in a two-day warm-up match against India A, followed by three four-day matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
