Special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja rush

To manage the surge in passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has announced special train services from Gujarat, according to an official release. These services will operate from key locations including Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Rajkot, easing the strain on regular trains.

Railway sources report that six pairs of festival special trains will run from Ahmedabad, connecting the city to destinations such as Lucknow, Danapur, Banaras, and Jaynagar.

AMC allocates ₹216 crore to address waterlogging in Vejalpur and Vasna

AMC has approved a ₹216 crore plan to tackle waterlogging in Vejalpur and Vasna. At a recent water and sewerage committee meeting, AMC sanctioned two major projects.

The first project will involve a stormwater drain line from Makarba Police Headquarters to the Sabarmati River via Fatehwadi Canal, costing ₹36.27 crore. The second project, estimated at ₹180.17 crore, includes stormwater drain installations using micro-tunneling between Manekbag and APMC, Jaydeep Tower to Malav Talav, and Vasna Barrage downstream to Fatehwadi Canal.

Kavach train protection system trial successful on Vadodara-Ahmedabad line

The trial run of the a has been successfully conducted on the 96-km Vadodara-Ahmedabad section with automatic signaling.

Western Railway has been actively installing this indigenous system, with devices fitted in 60 train locomotives and signaling infrastructure set up along 470 kilometers of track. By 2024-25, the goal is to complete installations across 735 km, enhancing passenger safety with this advanced system.

New safety guidelines for school trips announced by Gujarat govt

Following the tragic Harni boat accident in Vadodara, the Gujarat Government has introduced comprehensive safety guidelines for school trips.

Applicable to government, grant-in-aid, and private schools, these new rules require each school to establish a committee—headed by the principal—to oversee trip planning, route selection, and safety protocols. Schools are also required to obtain prior approval from the Commissioner of Schools and implement rigorous safety measures.
