Traffic advisory announced in Ahmedabad on Sep 16

Ahead of Prime Minister’s address at the GMDC ground near Helmet Crossroads on the 16th of September, the city police commissioner has announced traffic restrictions.

From 10 a.m. until the event's conclusion, vehicle movement will be restricted on several routes, including NFD Crossroads to Saibaba Crossroads, Gurukul T-Junction, Helmet Crossroads, BPA Crossroads, and the area around Sanjivani Hospital near Vastrapur Lake.

A'bad-Gandhinagar Metro to begin operations on Sep 16, linking GIFT City

The Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Rail service will be flagged off on the 16th of September, connecting Motera to Gandhinagar Sector 1, with a link to GIFT City.

Although commercial operations will begin the next day, six intermediate stations between Motera and Gandhinagar will not be operational initially due to anticipated low passenger volumes. The metro will operate directly between Motera Stadium and GNLU stations during this phase.

Two new metro routes planned: Koteshwar to the Airport and a circular route within Gift City

The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has unveiled plans for two major metro projects. A 10-kilometer circular metro line within GIFT City will feature six stations and will be developed at a cost of ₹2,000 crore. Simultaneously, a 4-kilometer metro route will connect Koteshwar to the airport, with a budget of ₹1,800 crore.

Detailed project reports for both routes have been submitted to the central government for approval, and work will begin once clearance is received.

SVPI Airport introduces courier service for lost items

Passengers who forget their belongings at Ahmedabad Airport can now reclaim their items more easily. The airport’s lost-and-found department will handle requests via email, and for a small fee, belongings can be returned via courier. This service aims to help travellers who are unable to collect their lost items in person and has already seen a positive response from the public.

Gujarat to build high-performance centre for para-athletes in Gandhinagar

The Gujarat government has finalised plans for a High-Performance Centre (HPC) for para-athletes in Gandhinagar. This new facility will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to support training for 12 Paralympic sports disciplines.

The initiative is part of the state’s broader efforts to enhance support for para-athletes and elevate their performance on the global stage.
