Celebrating Creativity: Abhivyakti 2024 begins in Ahmedabad today
The sixth edition of Abhivyakti: The City Arts Project has officially commenced in Ahmedabad, bringing with it two weeks of captivating artistic expressions across genres. Organized by the UNM Foundation and supported by the Torrent Group, this annual festival has become a key cultural highlight, offering a vibrant platform for artists nationwide to showcase their creativity and connect with audiences.
Running until December 8, the festival is free and open to all, featuring 140 performances by 96 artists across dance, music, theatre, and visual art installations. With its unique mix of talent and creativity, Abhivyakti promises to transform Ahmedabad into a hub of artistic energy.
An exciting line-up of music, dance and theatre performances
The festival will take place at two venues this year: the Gujarat University Campus and the newly added ATIRA Campus on IIM Road. The opening acts set the stage for a grand beginning, with Khushi Langaliya’s dance performance "Sangeetkarini Tana Riri" at ATIRA and Saumya Joshi’s theatre production "Ohh!!! Womaniya" at the Gujarat University Amphitheatre, both scheduled for today.
Over the course of the event, visitors can look forward to a rich lineup of 140 performances by 96 artists, as well as workshops in theatre, visual arts, and dance, making it a hub for creative engagement and artistic exploration.
With a record footfall of over 1.75 lakh visitors in its previous edition, Abhivyakti continues to grow in scale and significance. By providing a platform for original ideas and expressions, the festival reinforces its commitment to making art accessible and meaningful to the community. This year’s expanded venues and meticulously curated programme are set to deliver another memorable celebration of creativity.

This year’s theme, “Stories from the Soul,” sets the tone for a deeply expressive and thought-provoking festival. Curated by renowned figures in the art world—K. Sumant (Music), Chirag Modi (Theatre), Dhara Dave Vyas (Visual Arts), and Mansi Modi (Dance)—the event promises to capture the essence of human experiences through creative storytelling.
Esteemed artists, including Rajat Dholakia, Saumya Joshi, Kruti Mahesh, and Khanjan Dalal, will also contribute to this edition, adding depth and diversity to the programme.
