In August 2023, three generations of the Thakore family embarked on an extraordinary road trip from their hometown of Ahmedabad to London. The most intriguing part? They made this journey in their 73-year-old vintage car, affectionately known as "Lal Pari" (Red Fairy).

Lal Pari is more than just a car to the Thakore family; it is a family heirloom and a matter of pride. This trip was as much a treat for the car as it was for them. Daman shares, “The car was manufactured in a factory in Abingdon, UK, and we planned the trip with that as the final destination in mind. It was a sort of homecoming for her.” 

The Thakore family’s journey wasn't just about reaching London; it was about the experiences and adventures along the way. Over 73 days, they traveled through 16 countries.

They left Ahmedabad on August 12, 2023, taking a sea route from Mumbai to Dubai, which they reached on August 28. The family continued their road trip from Dubai, finally arriving in the UK on October 26. The entire journey took 76 days, a testament to their perseverance and the durability of Lal Pari.

On October 26, 2023, the Thakore family marked the end of their epic journey with an emotional Instagram post: "A very emotional expedition!! 73 Days of madness, sweat, and blood, and 10,500 kilometers!! Lal Pari, a 73-year-old car, has made it in 73 days from India to the UK!! The first Indians to do so in a vintage car!! We are blessed. Thank you to each one of you who believed in us and supported us."
