Lagaan (2001)

Set in the late 19th century, "Lagaan" tells the story of villagers who challenge British officers to a cricket match to avoid paying high taxes. The film was primarily shot in Kunariya village near Bhuj and features other notable locations, including the Vijay Vilas Palace and Prag Mahal, showcasing Gujarat’s rural beauty and cultural richness.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

Starring Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Ajay Devgn, this romantic drama was filmed in the spectacular Vijay Vilas Palace in Mandvi, near the Rajasthan-Gujarat border. The movie features the ornate chambers of the palace and the striking desert landscapes, making it a visual treat.

Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela (2013)

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this film showcases the beautiful pastoral landscapes of Kutch. It vividly portrays traditional Garba dance, vibrant Gujarati clothing, intricate jewellery, and local festivities, immersing viewers in Gujarat's rich cultural heritage. Some scenes were also shot in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, adding to its visual appeal.

Kai Po Che! (2013)

This film marked late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s debut in Bollywood. Filmed in Vadnagar, Ahmedabad, and Diu, it features the song "Shubhaarambh," sung mainly in Gujarati. The song "Meethi Boliyan" was filmed at Diu Fort, adding local flavour to the narrative.

Mohenjo Daro (2016)

Set against the backdrop of the Indus Valley Civilization, this epic action-adventure film features dramatic terrains of Bhuj and the ancient structures of Dholavira. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde, the film highlights Gujarat’s rich historical significance.

Raees (2017)

A shot in this film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, was shot at the Sarkhej Roza monument in Ahmedabad, showcasing a Gujarati backdrop. Some locations in Mumbai were altered to resemble Ahmedabad slums, and the song "Udi Udi Jaye" perfectly captures the Gujarati flavour.

R.. Rajkumar (2013)

Featuring Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, this film includes the popular song "Saree Ke Fall Sa," filmed on the stunning white sands of the Rann of Kutch. The region is also famous for hosting the annual Rann Utsav, celebrating local culture.

Piku (2015)

Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan, Piku features charming scenes filmed in Surendranagar. The film's light-hearted narrative, centred around family relationships, adds a relatable touch to the picturesque locations.

2 States (2014)

Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, this romantic drama showcases cultural differences between families. Major portions were filmed at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, with other scenes shot in Delhi and Chennai, showcasing a blend of local and national elements.
