Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro service to be inaugurated on September 16

The much-anticipated Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro service is likely to be inaugurated by India's Prime Minister on the 16th of September. After the inauguration, the PM is expected to take a ride on the new metro. Additionally, he may also inaugurate the Vande Metro train service, connecting Ahmedabad to Bhuj.

Road to Kalupur Railway Station closed for three years

The city police commissioner has announced that a major road leading to the Kalupur Railway Station will be closed for three years, from the 11th of September 2024, to the 10th of September 2027.

A 200-meter stretch of the road from Sarangpur Circle to Kalupur Station will be affected, with one side completely closed and the other converted to a one-way route to manage traffic flow.

Helicopter joy ride suspended indefinitely

The popular helicopter joy ride between Science City and the Sabarmati Riverfront has been suspended indefinitely. The ride is currently halted due to ongoing maintenance and the replacement of crucial parts.

Passengers who booked tickets online will receive a full refund, with the option to reschedule for a later date once the service resumes.

Noise barriers installed along Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor

Significant progress has been made in the installation of noise barriers along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor. So far, over 1,75,000 noise barriers have been installed across 87.5 kilometres in Gujarat. On average, 2,000 barriers are being placed per kilometer on both sides of the viaduct to minimize noise pollution.

Rs 86 crore allocated for road repairs

The Gujarat Roads and Buildings Department has sanctioned Rs 86 crore for road repairs and improvements, particularly in areas affected by recent heavy rains.

The funds have been allocated to 43 MLAs of the state and will be used for constructing new asphalt roads, resurfacing damaged ones, and installing paver blocks where needed.

Gujarat Police launch new helpline for traffic issues

The Gujarat Police have introduced a new helpline, 1800 233 1122, to address traffic-related issues, including road accidents and traffic jams. Citizens can report problems via phone, with reports forwarded to the appropriate police officials for swift action.

Additionally, a dedicated website, email address, and mobile application have been launched to further assist in reporting and resolving traffic woes.
