Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa to flag off Adani Ahmedabad Marathon on Sunday

The 8th edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is set to take place on the 24th of November, with chess grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa to inaugurate the event. It will also feature athlete-actor Saiyami Kher. The marathon will begin and end at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park, offering participants a choice of four categories: the full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.097 km), 10 km run, and 5 km run.

With over 22,000 participants in the previous edition, the event continues to be a major highlight in the city's calendar.

Ahmedabad teen shines at Asian Chess Championship for the Disabled

Jinay Shah, a 16-year-old from Ahmedabad, brought home a silver medal from the Asian Chess Championship for the Disabled in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Selected by the Sports Authority of India as one of eight participants, Jinay achieved second place in the tournament, showcasing India’s prowess on an international stage.

This remarkable feat adds another chapter to India’s success in chess and brings pride to Gujarat and the nation as a whole.

Municipality plans hostel for working women on SG Highway

A new hostel for working women is set to be constructed on SG Highway near YMCA Club in Makarba. The facility, spanning 1,813.95 sq m, will include 46 AC rooms with attached toilets. The hostel will feature a range of modern amenities, including lifts, parking, a fire safety system, a caretaker’s room, and a TV room.

Additionally, facilities like a dormitory, kitchen, dining area, laundry, and a control room will be available on the ground floor.

AMC allocates ₹5.30 crore for BRTS road repairs

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved ₹5.30 crore to repair roads near the BRTS corridor and bus stands. Frequent braking in these high-traffic zones has caused cracks and surface damage in the docking areas.

Despite earlier construction efforts, the roads have deteriorated significantly. A proposal was presented to the Road and Building Committee to address these issues. 

₹36.30 crore project approved for rainwater harvesting in Gota Ward

To tackle flooding in Gota ward, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a ₹36.30 crore project to construct a rainwater harvesting structure near Bandhan Triangular Junction on SG Road. The initiative will include eco-blocks and a stormwater pumping station to improve water management in the area.

Flooding during monsoons has long plagued the locality, causing inconvenience to residents. The AMC’s plan involves building a stormwater pumping station on a 1,034 sq m plot, complemented by a new stormwater line, to mitigate these issues effectively.
