First Vande Bharat train to launch on Ahmedabad-Vadodara-Surat route

The first Vande Bharat Metro train on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara-Surat route is expected to be launched later this month, potentially on 15th August. The train will operate at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

City traffic police crackdown on motorists driving on the wrong side and without helmets

In response to a strong remark by the Gujarat High Court regarding helmetless riders, the Ahmedabad City Traffic Police have intensified the crackdown on motorists driving on the wrong side and without helmets.

The police have been active across various parts of the city, issuing fines amounting to Rs 33.09 lakh to 6,513 violators over the last two days.

Vasna barrage gates opened due to rising Sabarmati River levels

Three gates of the Vasna barrage were opened to release excess water following heavy rainfall in northern Gujarat, causing the Sabarmati River's water level to rise. Villages downstream have been alerted as a precaution.

As of a bulletin issued at midnight on 11th August, the water level at the Vasna barrage stood at 132.75 meters. The Sabarmati River continues to flow through parts of Ahmedabad district before emptying into the Arabian Sea in the Gulf of Khambhat.

International Film Festival on Gandhiji at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium today

An international film festival focusing on Mahatma Gandhi’s life, ideals, and principles is set to take place today in Ahmedabad at the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium.

Organized by the Indian Infotainment Media Corporation (IIMC) and sponsored by the Commissioner of Youth Services and Cultural Activities, Government of Gujarat, the festival will feature films from various countries. The screenings, open to the public, will run from 10 AM to 5 PM.

IMD predicts light to moderate showers today

After receiving 4mm of rainfall on Sunday afternoon, Ahmedabad is expected to experience light to moderate showers today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Due to the cloudy weather, the city’s maximum temperature remained at a cool 31°C. Out of Gujarat's 252 talukas, 125 received at least 1mm of rain.
