Helmet mandate to be strictly enforced for both two-wheeler drivers and pillion riders

On Wednesday, the Gujarat High Court ordered city authorities to strictly enforce the mandatory use of helmets for both drivers and pillion riders of two-wheelers in Ahmedabad. This directive, set to be implemented within 15 days, aims to enhance road safety in the city.

7 city entry gates to enhance Ahmedabad's World Heritage City appeal

To enhance Ahmedabad's appeal as a World Heritage City, 7 entry gates will be constructed at major entry points, including Vaishnodevi, Sanathal, and Tapovan. These gates will feature attractive designs, decorative lighting, and landscaping.

Built along main entry roads, the gates will offer amenities such as AMTS, BRTS, and Metro connectivity. A rooftop viewing gallery will provide panoramic views of the city, seamlessly blending heritage and modern themes.

First Vande Bharat Express with 20 coaches to run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai

For the first time, a Vande Bharat Express train with 20 coaches will operate between Ahmedabad and Mumbai on the 9th of August. Western Railway will conduct this trial run, and the train will not carry any passengers.

With approval from the Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO), the 20-coach train will travel at 130 km/h. Currently, two Vande Bharat Express trains run on this route, each with 16 coaches and nearly 100% occupancy.

Mount Carmel School building found structurally weak, likely to relocate

The 87-year-old Mount Carmel School in Navrangpura has been deemed structurally weak by the Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI). Ahmedabad District Education Officer Rohit Chowdhury stated that the school management reported the building as unfit for classes.

Following GERI's inspection, the building was found to be 89% weak. The report has been sent to the Executive Engineer, and the school has been advised to prepare for a potential relocation.

SVPI Airport to receive 2 more 'Vajra' anti-terrorist vehicles

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad will receive two additional 'Vajra' anti-terrorist vehicles, bringing the total to four. This allocation by the Centre aims to bolster security amid increasing VVIP movements at the airport.
