City sees temp surge, IMD warns of hotter week ahead

Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 37.4°C on Monday, a sharp increase from 35°C on Saturday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this is 1.7°C above the average for October. Hatkeshwar Flyover demolition: Rs 100 Crore project to replace crumbling structure

Built at a cost of Rs 34 crore and inaugurated in 2017, Ahmedabad’s Hatkeshwar flyover, meant to stand for 100 years, will be demolished after just six years due to safety concerns. The flyover began deteriorating within five years, forcing its closure in 2022.

Authorities have now approved a new construction project worth over Rs 100 crore to replace the existing structure, highlighting a significant oversight in public infrastructure safety.

Air India expands Ahmedabad-London flight services starting Nov 25

Air India is set to increase its direct flights between Ahmedabad and London, adding two more weekly services in its upcoming winter schedule. From the 25th of November, the airline will operate direct flights from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Gatwick Airport on Mondays and Fridays, supplementing its current services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

This expansion aims to accommodate increased demand and provide more flexibility for passengers travelling between these destinations.

Navratri traffic restrictions: Heavy vehicles banned from 8 AM to 2 AM

In response to the ongoing Navratri festival, Ahmedabad’s City Police Commissioner, G S Malik, has issued a notification prohibiting the entry of transport and heavy vehicles into the city from 8 AM to 2 AM. The decision aims to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and reduce the risk of accidents during this festive period when roads are busier.
