Kankaria Zoo receives new animals from Maharashtra

Kankaria Zoo in Ahmedabad has expanded its wildlife collection through an animal exchange, receiving two tigresses and six leopards (three females and three males) from the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Gorewada, Maharashtra.

The animals will be kept in isolation for a month before being made available for public viewing. With this addition, Kankaria Zoo now houses over 2,100 animals.

Police issue guidelines for Navratri events, mandate midnight curfew

The Commissioner of Police has issued new guidelines for Navratri celebrations. Garba events are permitted only until midnight, and organizers using loudspeakers after 12 AM in societies, party plots, or flats will face penalties.

The rules also include mandatory CCTV installations, fire safety measures, and separate entry and exit points at event venues. Managers of the venues will be held responsible for maintaining safety and order during the celebrations.

Heavy rains hit South Gujarat, Ahmedabad to see more showers

Parts of South Gujarat, particularly Tapi district, have experienced heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, with more rain expected across other districts in the state.

Ahmedabad also saw light to moderate showers, recording 16.8 mm of rainfall from Thursday to Friday. The forecast predicts continued light to moderate rain with occasional thunderstorms, bringing cooler temperatures and intermittent showers to the city in the coming days.

Gujarat High Court calls for stricter helmet enforcement before Navratri

The Gujarat High Court has instructed the state government to enforce the helmet rule more strictly ahead of Navratri. All two-wheeler riders must wear helmets, and repeat violators could face harsher penalties.

The court suggested suspending the licenses of individuals caught breaking the rule three times, aiming to improve road safety during the festive period.

Sabarmati-Jodhpur Express partially cancelled due to railway work

Due to double line construction in the Mehsana-Palanpur section, the Sabarmati-Jodhpur-Sabarmati Express will face partial cancellations. Train No. 14822 Sabarmati-Jodhpur Express will be partially cancelled between Sabarmati and Abu Road from the 29th of September to the 8th of October 2024, while Train No. 14821 Jodhpur-Sabarmati Express will also be cancelled between Abu Road and Sabarmati from the 28th of September to the 7th of October 2024.
