KSRTC plans longest daily bus route from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce its longest daily bus route from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, spanning approximately 1,500 km. This new route will feature European-style, air-conditioned sleeper buses. Currently, the longest KSRTC routes are Bengaluru-Mumbai and Bengaluru-Shirdi, each covering around 1,000 km.

81.5% of e-challans remain unpaid in Ahmedabad

In the first half of 2024, 81.5% of e-challans issued for traffic violations in Ahmedabad remain unpaid. Out of 3,99,998 e-challans issued between January and June 2024, only 74,094 (18.5%) have been settled.

Authorities suggest that concerns over online fraud might be deterring people from paying the fines.

New advertising displays to be installed at Sabarmati Riverfront

The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. (SRFDCL) has proposed the installation of advanced advertising displays, including Variable Messaging Displays (VMDs), along the Sabarmati Riverfront.

These displays will support real-time and mobile-enabled messaging, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and functional utility. They will be strategically placed throughout the Sabarmati Riverfront Phase-1 area.

Crackdown on e-cigarette and tobacco sales near schools

Ahmedabad Police are launching a 21-day operation to curb the sale of e-cigarettes and tobacco near schools. This initiative is a result of complaints from parents and schools about vendors targeting youth with these products.

The city crime branch will conduct surveys and enforcement actions to apprehend those selling prohibited items near educational institutions.

NHAI to construct underpasses and foot overbridges on Mumbai-A'bad Highway

To tackle traffic congestion, accidents, and waterlogging on the NH-48 between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) plans to build 7 underpasses and 10 foot overbridges. Additionally, 17 accident-prone areas will be repaired. These tasks are expected to be completed by April 2025.
