Ahmedabad students excel in CA final exams: 3 candidates in top 50 nationwide

Three candidates from Ahmedabad have secured positions in the top 50 nationwide in the CA final exams, the results of which were declared on Thursday.

Aksha Memon achieved an all-India rank (AIR) of 7, Shubham Makhija secured AIR 36, and Dhruvang Shah attained AIR 39. Additionally, in the intermediate results, Het Panchal from Ahmedabad secured AIR 39.

Pothole issues persist in the city

Potholes continue to trouble residents in Ahmedabad, with the one near Sanjivani Hospital in the Vastrapur area being particularly concerning. Local authorities have cordoned off the affected areas with barricades. Notably, over 25 potholes have been reported in the city so far.

In response, a new helpline number, 155303, has been established for residents to report issues related to land or road subsidence. This initiative follows an order from the Gujarat High Court, allowing people to directly contact the authorities for assistance.

AMC approves podium parking for the first time

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved podium parking for the first time in the city. On Thursday, the standing committee sanctioned podium parking in 22 buildings, with 12 of these located in the north-west zone.

The highest level of the podium parking structures will be open to the sky and will be used for landscaping, common plots, and recreational activities.

Ahmedabad weather: Cloudy skies and light drizzles

On Thursday, Ahmedabad experienced cloudy skies throughout the day with light drizzles in some outskirts. The maximum temperature reached 36.7°C, which is 2.7 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 28.4°C, 2.1 degrees higher than normal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast for Ahmedabad predicts light to moderate rainfall.

AMC launches study to improve STP functionality in response to Sabarmati pollution

In response to a petition filed in the Gujarat High Court concerning pollution in the Sabarmati River, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) acknowledged that the city's 16 sewage treatment plants (STPs) are not functioning properly.

To address this, AMC will conduct a treatability study of all 16 STPs. AMC has allocated ₹34 lakhs, approximately ₹2 lakhs per plant, for the efficiency survey of the 16 STPs. This survey will be conducted in collaboration with the Gujarat Industries and Technical Consultancy Organization Limited (GITCO).
