City set to welcome 25 new skyscrapers

The state government has flagged off the construction of at least 30 new skyscrapers across four major cities: Ahmedabad, Surat, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara. Leading the charge, Ahmedabad is poised to see the addition of 25 skyscrapers, while Surat and Gandhinagar will each add two, and Vadodara will get one.

The government revealed on Monday that local authorities have already generated approximately Rs 1,000 crore in revenue through the sale of premium FSI, encouraging significant investment in vertical growth.

Heavy rainfall on Monday causes waterlogging; Rainy days predicted

After a brief respite from last week's torrential downpours, Ahmedabad was drenched again on Monday, with the city recording 28mm of rainfall, 19mm of which fell between 4pm and 6 pm. The continuous light to moderate rains throughout the day led to traffic snarls and disruptions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar weather for the city, with light to moderate rains expected to continue today. The IMD also predicts predominantly overcast skies with moderate rain in Ahmedabad on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of September.

Traffic obstructions: 120 illegally parked vehicles seized

In response to a recent Gujarat High Court ruling addressing illegal encroachments and traffic issues, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's Estate Department has initiated actions to clear road obstructions. In a joint operation with the traffic police, 78 vehicles illegally parked in areas such as Ghatlodia, Gota, SG Highway, and Judges Bungalow have been fined a total of Rs 38,500.

Additionally, 31 vehicles from Delhi Gate to Shahibagh Police Commissioner Office have been issued memos. These efforts are part of a broader campaign to alleviate traffic congestion and ensure smoother road conditions across the city.
