Revised schedule for Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express

The Western Railway has announced a new schedule for Train No. 22961, the Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express, effective from August 24, 2024. The train will now leave Mumbai Central at 3:45 PM, ten minutes earlier than its previous departure time of 3:55 PM.

Similar timing changes of up to five minutes have been made for halts at Vapi, Surat, and Vadodara stations. The train will now reach Ahmedabad railway station at 9:15 PM instead of 9:25 PM.

Fares to increase for Ola Uber rides in city

Taxi and autorickshaw drivers in Ahmedabad staged a protest at the airport against the operation of illegal two-wheelers with white number plates through online applications. The protest was triggered by concerns over these vehicles affecting their business.

In response, Ola company has agreed to increase the fare to Rs. 20 per km for drivers using the application. This change is likely to impact passengers using services like Ola and Uber in the city.

Plan for Ahmedabad's first light bridge on Airport VIP Road

The city's civic body has announced plans to construct Ahmedabad's first light bridge. This U-shaped bridge will be built on Airport VIP Road, connecting Shahibaug Dafnala to Airport Circle, with an estimated cost of around Rs 6.18 crore.

Traffic advisory on Relief Road

The city traffic police issued an advisory on Tuesday, urging citizens to avoid roads and lanes near Sarvodaya Commercial Centre on Relief Road due to ongoing repair work on the five-decade-old building.

Ahmedabad weather update

Ahmedabad recorded 4mm of rainfall on Tuesday, experiencing a mix of cloudy skies and sunshine. As of Tuesday, the city has received 43% of its seasonal rainfall. The maximum temperature rose slightly to 33.2°C, which is 1.3 degrees above the normal.

Successful loco trial of Kavach system on Ahmedabad to Vadodara section

The Western Railway has successfully completed the loco trial of the Kavach system on the 96 km route connecting Ahmedabad to Vadodara (automatic signaling) section. On the Vadodara – Surat – Virar (automatic signaling) section, 201 km of the 336 km project has been completed.

The Kavach system is designed to apply automatic brakes and control the train’s speed in case of potential accidents, and it also ensures smoother train operations in adverse weather conditions.
