On Tuesday, temperatures soared to 45 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, with Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Anand, and Vadodara recording 44 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for 13 districts, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Patan, Banaskantha, Anand, Rajkot, and Surendranagar.
Seventeen districts are under a heatwave alert, and a Yellow Alert has been issued for four districts. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme heat.
In response to the severe heat in Ahmedabad, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has declared a red alert and is implementing various measures to mitigate the effects. The intense heat poses a threat to organisms living in trees, prompting voluntary organisations and fire brigade personnel to undertake efforts to provide relief.
They have been sprinkling water on trees in different areas of the city, including Gujarat College, Shahpur, Kathwara, and Nikol, to help the trees cope with the extreme temperatures.
