AMC allocates significant budget to enhance door-to-door waste collection

In a bid to bolster cleanliness initiatives and ensure efficient waste management, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) gears up to greenlight contracts worth Rs 3,380 crore over a decade for door-to-door waste collection services.

This strategic move aligns with AMC's long-term vision outlined in the 2014-15 Road Map for Zero Waste Ahmedabad. Notably, the city aims to reduce waste generation from 600g to 450g per capita. Contractual obligations mandate 100% waste segregation, accompanied by penalty clauses for non-compliance that will ensure effective waste disposal.

DEO's Sarthi Helpline comes to the aid of Class 12 student during board exams

Amidst the stress and pressures of board examinations, students often encounter unforeseen challenges. Recently, a Class 12 student Harsh Rathore found himself in a predicament when he didn't have his hall ticket. Promptly reaching out to the Sarthi Helpline initiated by the Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO), the student's issue was swiftly addressed, with the hall ticket reaching to him within 60 minutes.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the helpline, the student was able to proceed with his examination without further disruption.

Heatwave grips Gujarat, maximum temperature expected to soar

Gujarat state is experiencing a surge in temperatures across all districts, with daytime highs surpassing 35 degrees Celsius. The temperature differential of 15 degrees between the minimum and maximum temperatures exacerbates the heat felt throughout the day. Forecasts indicate that the mercury may climb even higher, exceeding 37 degrees Celsius over the next five days.

In Ahmedabad city, residents are also witnessing with hot winds blowing from the North and North West.

Gujarat University Colleges eye introduction of 4-Year BS degree courses

Thirty-five colleges affiliated with Gujarat University are expressing interest in commencing four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs commencing this academic year. This enthusiasm follows the university's earlier announcement regarding the introduction of the 4-year BS degree. These courses, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), are poised to offer students enhanced educational opportunities.

Additionally, colleges within the university's purview are set to facilitate interdisciplinary movement among students, enabling them to pursue complementary courses alongside their major subjects.
