AMTS to launch Electric AC buses on Sabarmati Riverfront route

The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) will begin operating electric AC buses on the Sabarmati Riverfront Road from June 5, World Environment Day. Initially, AMTS will run 10 such buses on a pilot basis along the west end of the riverfront.

The route will extend from Vasna Bus Terminus to Vadaj Bus Terminus. The buses will depart from Vasna Terminus, enter the riverfront at Chandranagar near the Ambedkar Bridge, and exit at Vadaj Crematorium before reaching Vadaj Terminus. The buses will cover an 8 km stretch along the riverfront within the total 10 km route.

Kankaria's Balvatika to close for renovation from 5th June

Balvatika, a popular attraction within Kankaria in the city, will be closed to the public starting next Wednesday for extensive renovations. The closure will last for more than six months, starting from June 5. Once the renovation is complete, visitors can look forward to new games and attractions.

Enhanced safety measures proposed for Game Zones

Town planners from various municipal corporations have proposed several safety measures for game zones. These include separate entry and exit points and proper ventilation. Additionally, BU permissions should be granted by the deputy municipal commissioner. If accepted, the amendments will authorise the Chief Fire Officer of each city and town to issue insurance and fire NOC permissions.

IMD forecasts strong winds for Gujarat until June 6

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for strong surface winds in Gujarat over the next four days. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 20-25 km/h until June 6. This is due to a cyclonic circulation over the Saurashtra region near the northeast Arabian Sea and another over southeast Rajasthan.

On Sunday, Surendranagar recorded the state's highest temperature at 43°C, followed by Ahmedabad at 42°C and Gandhinagar at 41.5°C.

5% toll tax increase on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised toll rates for approximately 1100 toll plazas nationwide, effective today. The increases range from 3% to 5%. The Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway is among the stretches affected, with toll rates rising by 5%.
