Gujarat's voter turnout drops to 59.51% in 25 Lok Sabha Election

As of midnight on Tuesday, the voter turnout in Gujarat's 25 Lok Sabha seats stood at 59.51%. Out of a total of 4.79 crore eligible voters, 2.85 crore individuals cast their ballots, while 1.90 crore abstained from voting. This marks a 7.03% decrease compared to the 2019 elections, with heat being cited as a contributing factor.

Notably, the morning hours from 7 am to 11 am saw an average of 810 people voting per second, while the rate dropped to 580 people per second between 1 pm and 5 pm.

Over 2 lakh voters benefited from the free commute on AMTS buses

More than 200,000 voters took advantage of a special initiative by AMTS, enjoying complimentary travel between Tuesday morning and evening. The scheme announced to encourage voting, allowed passengers to travel for free by presenting their voting slip, voter identity card, or inked finger.

With around 740 AMTS buses in operation since the morning, a significant portion of commuters benefited from this offer.

AMC resolves pipeline disruption near Karnavati Club after two-day inactivity

Following a two-day disruption, the AMC has finally repaired a damaged pipeline near Karnavati Club. The pipeline suffered damage during construction work on the service road between Karnavati Club and Iskcon Crossroads.

After facing public scrutiny over the wastage of thousands of liters of potable water, the civic body took action and repaired the pipeline on Tuesday evening.

City reports 520 cases of medical emergencies on polling day

As Amdavadis stepped out to cast their votes, many encountered health issues due to the high temperatures. With the mercury soaring above 41 degrees Celsius, the city witnessed 121 cases of abdominal pain, 62 cases of breathing problems, and 62 cases of non-vehicular trauma on polling day.
