The book fair will showcase diverse books in languages such as Gujarati, Hindi, and English. The event includes 65 publishers, including the National Book Trust, Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, and Gujarat Sahitya Parishad, with 140 book stalls set up for visitors.

City being decorated ahead of the Vibrant Summit

Ahmedabad is gearing up to welcome UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on January 9 ahead of the Vibrant Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will greet him, and a road-show from the airport to Gandhi Ashram is planned.

To create a festive atmosphere, the municipality is decorating the route with banners, hoardings, flowers, LEDs, and a sound system. Departments like Health, Engineering, and Lighting have specific roles for this grand event. From January 9 to January 26, the city will be illuminated with lights on bridges, main roads, and Vibrant connecting roads, costing an estimated 1.25 crore.

AMC initiates plastic recycling for sustainable products

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has initiated a campaign to turn plastic waste into useful items. Plastic drinking water bottles collected during the Kankaria carnival are being recycled into colorful items such as kotis, bags, and writing pads suitable for social occasions.

Approximately 1500 kg of materials, including plastic, have been collected and repurposed into sustainable 'best from waste' items.
