NSD will establish a performing wing at Gujarat University

The esteemed National School of Drama (NSD) is set to extend its artistic influence to Ahmedabad with the establishment of its first-ever performing wing outside Delhi at Gujarat University. Discussions between NSD authorities and Gujarat University are underway, facilitated by the Ministry of Culture's granted permission. A dedicated building within the Gujarat University campus has been earmarked to house the upcoming repertory.

This development holds promise for local artists, providing them with a national platform to enhance their skills and collaborate with accomplished artists, marking a significant milestone for the NSD's outreach in Ahmedabad.

Five state-of-the-art stadiums set to transform Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave

Exciting news awaits sports enthusiasts in Ahmedabad as both the central and Gujarat state governments have given their nod for the construction of five cutting-edge stadiums within the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) will soon issue tenders for their construction, adhering to international standards.

Spanning an expansive 350 acres along the Sabarmati riverfront, the sports enclave will house a football stadium with a capacity of 50,000, an aquatics center accommodating 12,000, a tennis center for 10,000, and two indoor arenas with capacities of 18,000 and 10,000 respectively. Additionally, the enclave will feature flexible spaces for the setup of temporary venues for various events.

SP Ring Road to have six-lanes

A decision has been made to expand the Sardar Patel (SP) Ring Road to six lanes. The Request for Proposal (RFP) for this transformation will be released in the next seven days. Expert consultants will address traffic management concerns and design considerations for the road.

To combat waterlogging during monsoons, a stormwater line is also in the planning stages, ensuring a durable solution that lasts for two decades. The current four-lane configuration, connecting National Highway 6 and State Highway 11, will be upgraded to six lanes, each widened from 8.5 meters to 12.5 meters.

Rise in daily Corona cases

Ahmedabad is witnessing a daily increase in Covid cases, with new reports today comprising five men and three women from areas including Nawarangpura, Naranpura, Jodhpur, Thaltej, Gota, and Sarkhej.

Three patients have a recent travel history from America, Dubai, and Mathura, testing positive upon their return. The city currently has 42 active cases, with one patient hospitalized and 41 in home isolation.

Over 8,000 saplings of indigenous tree species were strategically planted across the city to replenish and revitalize its green cover. This initiative is part of Apexon Ignite’s year-end program aimed at fostering environmental consciousness.
