Air India introduces Self-Baggage Drop System at Ahmedabad Airport

Air India has launched a Self Baggage Drop (SBD) System at Ahmedabad Airport, following the lead of Indigo Airlines. This innovative technology streamlines the baggage check-in process, allowing passengers to drop off their luggage at kiosks, get tags, and proceed to security check-in quickly and conveniently.

This new system is expected to significantly reduce the time spent in queues for Air India passengers at Ahmedabad Domestic Airport, which handles nearly 250 flights and accommodates 25,000 to 30,000 passengers daily.

Cyclone causes temperature drop in Ahmedabad; Heatwave expected soon

Ahmedabad experienced a notable drop in temperatures on Tuesday due to cyclone activity. The maximum temperature fell to 37 degrees Celsius, a 4-degree decrease from Monday, while the minimum temperature dropped to 24.9 degrees Celsius, down by 5 degrees. Cloudy weather contributed to the daytime cooling.

However, the weather department forecasts a gradual increase in temperatures over the next 24 to 48 hours, with the potential to reach 46 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

Diversions at Shilaj and Sindhu Bhavan junctions due to AUDA construction

As part of the Ahmedabad Pre-Urban Liveability Improvement Project, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has initiated road construction on both sides of the service roads at Shilaj and Sindhu Bhavan junctions.

Committee formed for the development and maintenance of Ahmedabad's lakes

The state government has transferred 110 of Ahmedabad's 156 lakes to the Municipal Corporation, prompting the Municipal Commissioner to take action for their better development and maintenance. A dedicated committee has been established to oversee this initiative, addressing issues such as pollution, sewage contamination, and silt accumulation in the lakes.

The committee, comprising officers from the Engineering, Estate, Garden, Health, and Solid Waste Management Departments, will be led by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner. They will meet weekly and submit a monthly report to the Commissioner. This committee will also focus on improvements to developed lakes and the development of additional lakes as needed.
