Warm and humid weather persists during Navratri

The first day of Navratri brought warm and humid conditions to Ahmedabad, with the city's minimum night temperature recorded at 26.4°C, which is 2.6°C higher than usual. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was slightly cooler than normal at 34.2°C, 1.5°C below the average.

The IMD has forecast similar conditions for Friday, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 35°C and the minimum around 26°C. No significant changes in temperature are predicted over the next four days, though a 2-3°C increase is expected by the end of the week.

Some areas of the city to experience water cuts on Friday

Some areas of Ahmedabad will experience water cuts on Friday after the Kotarpur water treatment plant was shut down on Thursday for preventive maintenance. Managed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the plant supplies drinking water to the city's west, north, south, east, and central zones.

Residents in these regions are advised to prepare for the disruption.

Festival special train between Ahmedabad and Barauni

To handle the festive rush, Western Railway will run special trains between Ahmedabad and Barauni. Train No. 09413 will depart Ahmedabad every Tuesday at 16:35 and reach Barauni at 04:00 on Thursday, operating from the 8th of October to the 12th of November 2024.

For the return journey, Train No. 09414 will depart Barauni every Thursday at 06:00 and arrive in Ahmedabad at 23:15 the following day. This service will run from 10 October to 14 November 2024, with stops at major stations including Anand, Vadodara, and Patliputra.

Free health check-up camp and mobile medical van in Ahmedabad

On Thursday, during a two-day visit to Gujarat, the Union Home Minister inaugurated a free health check-up camp in Ahmedabad. The event, organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, aimed to promote preventive healthcare and offered general medical check-ups, diabetes tests, blood donation drives, and eye screenings.

The minister also launched a mobile medical van in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), designed to provide healthcare services to underserved areas of the city.
