Connecting Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, Metro Phase II trial run to start by July 2023

The combined length of the two corridors of Ahmedabad Metro Phase II is 28.2km and the project will have a total of 22 stations.

Following the successful implementation of Phase I, which consisted of an intracity Metro comprising both the East-West and North-South corridors in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Metro Railway Corporation (GMRC) is now focusing on the completion of Phase II. The upcoming Ahmedabad Metro Phase II will be an intercity project that will establish a connection between the city of Ahmedabad and the state capital of Gujarat.

In addition, the development work for Ahmedabad Metro Phase II began in tandem with Phase I in January 2021. As for the trial run, it is expected to commence in June or July of this year.

More about the Ahmedabad Metro Phase II corridor

Notably, Ahmedabad Metro Phase II consists of two corridors, with Corridor 1 covering a distance of 22.8km from Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

While Corridor 2 will cover a distance of 5.4 km from GNLU to GIFT City. The combined length of the two corridors is 28.2km and the project will have a total of 22 stations.

Corridor 1 of Ahmedabad Metro Phase II, which will connect Sector 1 in Gandhinagar to Mahatma Mandir, is still under construction, while the work on Corridor 2 has been completed.
