India’s javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra earned a silver medal at the Lausanne Diamond League. After being in fourth place for most of the event, he delivered a season's best throw of 89.49m on his final attempt, surpassing his earlier attempts and outshining his performance at the Paris Olympics.

Education Ministry launches 2nd phase of learning disability training programme

The Ministry of Education has started the second phase of its training programme for specific learning disabilities (SLD) under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP).

This programme, aimed at enhancing the skills of higher educational institutions in supporting students with learning disabilities, will run until December with sessions available both online and in-person.

India celebrates its first National Space Day today

India is celebrating its inaugural National Space Day today with the theme "Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga".

This day commemorates the historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3’s soft landing on the moon on August 23, 2023, making India the fourth country to land on the lunar surface and the first to land on the South Pole. Prime Minister has declared August 23 as National Space Day to honour this milestone.

Tripura hit by severe flooding and landslides; Relief efforts underway

Tripura is experiencing severe flooding and landslides that have displaced around 65,400 residents. Many have sought shelter in 450 relief camps due to extensive damage to their homes.

Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced a financial aid package of Rs 4 lakh for each affected family. Helicopters are being used to assist and evacuate stranded individuals from South Tripura and Gomati.

Government launches PM-JANMAN campaign for particularly vulnerable tribal groups

The government has initiated a nationwide campaign to provide benefits to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in 194 districts under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyaan (PM-JANMAN).

The campaign, running until September 10, aims to deliver essential services such as housing, clean water, sanitation, education, healthcare, and improved connectivity to PVTG families.
