In a proactive move, the authorities took a decisive action against 35 illegal connections which were found to be contributing to the pollution of the Sabarmati River. This drive targeted units located in the East and West zones of the city notorious for spreading environmental pollution.

On Monday, the AMC chief issued orders to disconnect 7 connections in the East zone, encompassing areas such as Ambraiwadi, Odhav, and Viratnagar. Additionally, 28 connections in the South zone, including Barel Market and Faisal Nagar of Behrampura, were also severed. These connections were found to be involved in the improper disposal of chemical waste through drainage or stormwater lines, directly polluting the Sabarmati River.

The DMC emphasized the stringent measures being taken against such polluting units in an effort to curtail these malpractices. The AMC plans to conduct similar drives in other zones of the city as well.
