Knocksense Shorts | Foundation supporting families of martyred soldiers with solar power in Gujarat

A Surat based foundation has already illuminated the homes of 150 such families.

Zeal Jani

In a heartwarming endeavor to support the families of India's martyred soldiers, a Surat-based businessman and the founder of the SRK Knowledge Foundation, Govindbhai Dholakia has embarked on a unique mission. As part of this, they've curated a list of over 750 martyrs from across India, with 125 from Gujarat. The mission's objective is to install solar power systems in the homes of these martyrs, a project that has already illuminated the homes of 150 such families.

This initiative serves a dual purpose. Not only does it offer substantial financial relief to the families, estimated at saving them between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 in electricity bills, but it also contributes to environmental preservation by reducing carbon footprints. The cost of a single solar system ranges from Rs. 80,000 to one lakh.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to honor and support the families of the martyrs who selflessly laid down their lives for the nation, this visionary scheme was launched on August 15, 2022.
