Following Tata Group's acquisition of Air India, the airline has made rapid progress in introducing new air routes and flights to popular international destinations. Air India and its low-cost international subsidiary, Air India Express, are now offering 67 weekly services to several international locations from Indian cities.
Adding to the slew of new air routes, Air India has now introduced a direct flight, which will operate between Ahmedabad and London's Gatwick Airport. The service commenced this Tuesday, during which the first flight was flagged off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation virtually.
Reportedly, the airline will offer a weekly flight schedule on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, utilizing the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The plane will have a total capacity of 256 seats, including 18 business class and 238 economy class seats.
