Knocksense Shorts| Riverfront, Atal Bridge, and River Cruise closed due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad

Zeal Jani

Due to the increased water flow in the Sabarmati River, Ahmedabad's Riverfront has been closed to the public. Authorities have opened four gates of the Sant Sarovar Dam. Both Atal Bridge and the Akshar River Cruise have also been closed due to the rising level of Sabarmati River.

The city has received over 7 inches of rain in 24 hours, with downpours continuing today. Additionally, a 20-foot sinkhole has appeared on Jagnath Mahadev Temple Road in Gomtupur. For safety reasons and to prevent vehicles from getting stranded, several underpasses in the city have been shut down.

The affected underpasses include Akhbar Nagar, Mithakali, Usmanpura, 1C Silver Star, Parimal, LC-25 Makarba, and Dakshini, all of which have been flooded. Citizens are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
